Social Enterprise
The organisation Shine Social Club consists of a limited company (in Dutch: BV) and a national non-profit foundation (in Dutch: stichting). The limited company develops and markets the digital app and the foundation organises social activities for older adults. The limited company and the foundation as intertwined, because if and when profits are made in the limited company the are used to fund the the social activities the foundation organises. It has been agreed that the limited company will donate at least 10% of the annual profits to the foundation.

The founders mission is very brief: they aim to reduce loneliness amongst older adults with Shine Social Club.

In the Netherlands there is no official legal entity for social enterprises and therefore Shine Social Club organisation consists of a limited company and a non-profit foundation. The main goal is to reduce loneliness under the demographic of older adults.
The development and marketing of the free app are fully financed by the foundation. The aim is to keep the access of the app free for the users at all times. To finance this operation the organisation fully relies on external funding like subsidies and donations. The aim is to be completely financially independent within three years.

Limited company
The limited company is a social enterprises aimed at fighting loneliness amongs older adults. The foundation organises activities to combat loneliness among older adults. The limited company develops and markets the free app and aims to create turn-over and profits to finance the foundation. When the limited company becomes profitable (EBIT) it will donate at least 10% of it’s profits to the foundation to finance the it and therefore enlarge the social impact.

Remuneration policy
The board members do not receive any kind of remuneration for their activities at the foundation. Two of the foundation’s board members (Alon Ben Joseph and Jonathan Salomon) are also the board members and directors of the limited company, as they are the founders. The board members of the limited company do not receive any kind of remuneration for their activities either. The wish has been expressed to have the board members of the limited company to become employees of the company one day and receive salaries. Volunteers get remuneration for the expenses made.
